This program will highlight the United States' international responsibility to protect and promote the human rights of immigrants in the U.S., including issues such as U.S. immigration detention policy, actual conditions in immigrant detention, and recent advocacy efforts to improve immigrant detention conditions and promote the human rights of immigrants.

The program will feature a discussion of the report submitted to the United Nations Committee Against Torture, in relation to the U.S. Government's review during the 53rd Session of the Convention Against Torture, which will take place in Geneva on November 12 and 13, 2014.

The presentation will also include what The John Marshall Law School International Human Rights Clinic and other organizations are doing to promote the human rights of immigrants internationally and domestically.
